2010 and Getting Back to Business

“How will the construction market manage the pressures and unfavourable conditions generated by the global financial crisis? What will happen with the construction companies in 2009? Who will turn to their advantage the economic crisis? ”- these were some of the questions we were looking an answer for in January 2009. A start of the year dominated by uncertainty and fear of bankruptcy for many of the companies which were still active in the construction field, and there was good reason for this: the financial crisis was making its way in the Romanian economy as well and would maintain fear for almost the complete 2009.
The crisis has yet brought good things as well, which most certainly cannot be compared to the bad ones in terms of their extent. We are talking about a thorough selection in the market, based on brand value. We say this as organizers of the events under the CAMEX brand which are dedicated to the construction industry. As organizers of such events we continue our mission to offer information, inspiration and acces to the market by means of exhibitions, events, publications and data business for the construction field. We maintain our strong belief in the importance of communication- needless to say, the fairs and exhibitions are pure communication.
CAMEX ExpoConference in Bucharest last autumn, when the associations and sponsors in the construction industry took part, has resulted in an analysis and an evaluation of the situation at the end of the first year of financial crisis in Romania. The situation presented then by the presidents of the associations and sponsors as well as by the representatives of the central administration, and exemplified by top managers, was not at all a favourable one, but helped define the main directions for 2010 and the measures to be taken for relaunching the industry.
We believe that the begining of 2010 is not about questions anymore, but about answers, answers we got in 2009, which await solutions from the year that just began. It is, however, a start with a known target. This is the difference compared to the previous year. The fear is no longer dominating, the crisis taught us how to optimize our costs, how to capitalize on our advantages, and most importantly, how to start all over again. We talked enough about crisis in 2009. It's time to get back to business.
